Esri’s annual User Conference in San Diego hosts thousands of attendees for its main plenary and keynote talks. This illustration served as an immersive backdrop to the final keynote talk featuring Jane Goodall and E.O. Wilson in a dialogue with Esri founder Jack Dangermond about the importance of biodiversity in the natural world. The vibrant panorama incorporated a diverse array of plant and animal life. The final image was incorporated into a luminous rear-projected stage environment spanning several screens.

Jack Dangermond, Jane Goodall, and E.O. Wilson discussing the importance of biodiversity at Esri's International User Conference in San Diego
The final illustration spanned the full width of the stage across several projection screens
I created the final illustration in Adobe Illustrator and designed it to span the entire width of the stage. While biodiversity is the general topic, no particular geographic region is the direct focus and the illustration sweeps its way across a range of species and ecosystems.
